Teens inventing the future.
Teens inventing the future. Boston Globe, August 2, 2007 Imagine developing a flashlight thatattaches to a backpack, or something else useful that no one else hasinvented. Rachel Wilk, a 15-year-old, recently created a prototype forthis invention at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell'sDesignCamp. Wilk believes this type of flashlight may help hikers seethe oncoming oncoming?adj.Coming nearer; approaching: an oncoming storm.n.An approach; an advance. path while keeping both hands free. Wilk and 550 otherstudents attended DesignCamp, a summer science and engineering programoffering 15 project-based workshops for students in grades five to 11.The camps involve designing and building robots, a drink mixer, spin artmachine, marshmallow marshmallow/marshmallow/ (mahrshmel?o) (-mal?o) a perennial Eurasian herb, Althaea officinalis, cannon, water balloon A water balloon, or water bomb is a simple small latex rubber balloon filled with water. "I know not all the kidshere are going to become engineers, but I believe most of them canbecome more empowered as critical and creative problem solvers. Most ofall, we want them to have fun," he said.www.boston.com/news/education/k_12/articles/2007/08/02/children_ofinvention build cool stuff
