The names of things. It is true Orpheus knowsthe names of things, but itdoes not happen the way youbelieve. He does not sowthe names like rye. Nor doesheaven disclose to himthe label of each species.Nor does he blindly givesigns the way parents do.Is naming a science?Are all winged things air?Do they get the sound 'oooo'?Then because the speciesyou call the ostrich isearthbound, does he add 'd'?No, because entitieshave certain elementshe does not routinelybuild combinations ofvowels and consonants.What he knows is that heis a lyre. What he doesis try to keep his stringsof ether, air, fire,water, and earth in tuneso they registerthe vibration of thingsthe same way a flamewavers in a draft.He does not name. He hears.Every created thingresonates its essence.
