The life of Max Mallowan: archaeology and Agatha Christie. (History of archaeology).

The life of Max Mallowan: archaeology and Agatha Christie. (History of archaeology). HENRIETTA MCCALL. The life of Max Mallowan Sir Max Edgar Lucien Mallowan, CBE (6 May, 1904–19 August, 1978) was a prominent British archaeologist, specialising in ancient Middle Eastern history, and the second husband of the novelist Dame Agatha Christie. : archaeology and AgathaChristie. 208 pages, 24 b&w photographs. 2001. London: BritishMuseum British Museum, the national repository in London for treasures in science and art. Located in the Bloomsbury section of the city, it has departments of antiquities, prints and drawings, coins and medals, and ethnography. Press; 0-7141-1149-X hardback 18.99 [pounds sterling]. Max ... and ... Agatha is a pleasant, journalistic account, entertaining, perhaps, for the general reader but frustrating for thearchaeologist who seeks just a slightly closer understanding of whatMallowan was up to at one site and another (and how, perhaps, thataffected the couple's relationship). The dust jacket is wrong toclaim that it is his biography.
