Start off the year with national mentoring month. January January:see month. 2002 marks the first-ever National Mentoring Month, aconcentrated focus on our nation's commitment to mentoring. Sponsored by the Harvard Harvard,town (1990 pop. 12,329), Worcester co., E central Mass.; inc. 1732. A Shaker house and cemetery, a Native American museum, and a Harvard observatory are there. Mentoring Project and the NationalMentoring Partnership--along with broadcast and cable televisionnetworks, local radio, TV and print news outlets--National MentoringMonth is an effort to raise awareness of and support for the mentoringmovement. The main goal is to recruit more adult mentors for youth inour communities. The official campaign will be launched in January 2002 with specialpromotions in December 2001 leading up to the launch. Tie-in activitiesand events will help promote mentoring throughout the year. Local mentoring organizations may convene CONVENE, civil law.
