ALTHOUGH STATE EDUCATION OFFICIALS HAVE been focused recently onthe Race to the Top fund, they are also looking at another pool of moneyscheduled to come their way in early 2010: $3.5 billion in Title 1School Improvement Grants. These grants, funded by a FY2009appropriation of $546 million and an additional $3 billion from theAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment ReinvestmentUsing dividends, interest and capital gains earned in an investment or mutual fund to purchase additional shares or units, rather than receiving the distributions in cash.1.
