Calling it "From Wisconsin to New York," the WisconsinCTSO has a goal of raising $448,000 for the purchase of a 1000 GPMPumper Fire Engine to be manufactured at the Seagrave Fire ApparatusCompany in Clintonville, Wis. Wisconsin Governor Scott McCallum helped kick off the statewidecampaign on November 27 with a proclamation signing ceremony. He wasjoined by representatives from Seagrave Fire Apparatus Company, theWisconsin State Fire Fighters Association, the Wisconsin State FireChiefs' Association and the Wisconsin State Fire Marshal. Leadersfrom the six Wisconsin Career and Technical Student Organizations werealso in attendance. The members of the CTSOs are conducting a variety offund-raising activities that will continue until July 31, 2002, and willinvolve their entire communities, with 100 percent of the proceeds goingtoward the purchase of the fire truck. A plaque recognizing the Wisconsin accomplishment will be placed onthe truck, and the FDNY plans to hold a dedication ceremony. The youngleaders and members of the CTSOs can identify with those who work incareers such as fire fighting and emergency response, so they wanted togive a gift that demonstrates their compassion for the people of NewYork City and their appreciation for the work done by the fire fightersand relief workers.
