The big audacious goal.

The big audacious goal. In preparation for the MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National AssociationMTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee)presidency, I attended, with NationalExecutive Director Gary L. Whois MTNA's CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. ? Both of us are MTNA's CEO. My role is that ofchief elected officer, and Gary's is that of chief executiveofficer. It is a partnership--we share the leadership. MTNA will only beas effective as we are in working together and as we are in sharing ourleadership with the MTNA Board of Directors, with Division and StateOfficers, with the National Office Staff, and ultimately with you, asmembers of our association. This reflects the "MTNA triangle":National, State and Local Associations surrounding surround?tr.v. surrounded, surrounding, surrounds1. As part of this sharing, each summer the Board of Directors meetsfor an extended session. In addition to business matters, we spend asignificant amount of time discussing long-range planning and directions In intelligence usage, the determination of intelligence requirements, development of appropriate intelligence architecture, preparation of a collection plan, and issuance of orders and requests to information collection agencies. See also intelligence process. in which we envision MTNA moving. We also spend a weekend in September, the MTNA Summit, with the Division and State Leadership, involving themin this process. Foremost in the Board's attention was to develop a "bigaudacious goal" that "reflects what we are deeply passionateabout as an organization, what we have the capability to be the best inthe world at, and what drives our organization's economicengine" (Tecker Consultants). The Board adopted the followingstatement: "MTNA should be the preeminent preeminentor pre-eminent ?adj.Superior to or notable above all others; outstanding. See Synonyms at dominant, noted.[Middle English, from Latin prae association for music teachingand the indispensable music resource for the public and theprofession." Along with our MTNA Mission Statement (found on the back of yourmembership card), these two statements define us as an association andas members: "The mission of Music Teachers National Association is toadvance the value of music study and music making to society and tosupport the professionalism professionalismthe upholding by individuals of the principles, laws, ethics and conventions of their profession. of music teachers." Our responsibility then is to try to fulfill fulfillalso fulfil ?tr.v. fulfilled, fulfilling, fulfills also fulfils1. To bring into actuality; effect: fulfilled their promises.2. our mission and ourbig audacious goal to the best of our ability as members workingtogether in support of our association. But the Board has already madesignificant strides in some of the above. Just to mention a few: * The Development Committee for the MTNA FOUNDATION is already hardat work. * The Institutional and Corporate Advisory Councils will meet atthe 2004 MTNA National Conference in Kansas City, Missouri Kansas City is the largest city in the state of Missouri.
