Philelle is a past president of Texas and Oklahoma state associations. We also congratulate Klondike Steadman, a guitarist from Austin, Texas, for his Studio Fellowship Award presented by the FOUNDATION. The Arkansas MTA will hold its convention on the campus of the University of Arkansas The University of Arkansas strives to be known as a "nationally competitive, student-centered research university serving Arkansas and the world." The school recently completed its "Campaign for the 21st Century," in which the university raised more than $1 billion for the school, used in Fayetteville, June 6-7. Jura Margulis will be the convention artist, and Martha Hilley, NCTM, will present a session titled "Computers and the Piano Teacher." The Oklahoma MTA convention is May 31-June 1 at the Simmons Center in Duncan. The guest artist is T.J. Lymenstull. Clinicians include Mary Sallee, NCTM, Robert Duke and Ed Gates, NCTM. On June 13-15 at the Arlington Convention Center, the Texas MTA will hold its convention. In addition to a performance by Steinway Artists Nielson and Young, presenters will include Jane Bastien, NCTM, Phillip Keveren, Robert Vandall, NCTM, Martin Cuellar and Brian Chung. The convention also will feature fifteen piano ensemble concerts. MTNA competition winners from Texas will perform with the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra.
