South Central Division. (Division News). South Central Division Competitions were held January 18-19, 2003, at the University of Oklahoma University of Oklahoma, abbreviated OU, is a coeducational public research university located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Founded in 1890, it existed in Oklahoma Territory near Indian Territory 17 years before the two became the state of Oklahoma. (OU) in Norman. How fortunate we were to be able to use the beautiful Catlett Music Center and its quality instruments for the competitions. Barbara Fast Major General Barbara Fast is an officer in the United States Army. In her recent posts her responsibilities have been in the field of military intelligence. Competitions Chair June Leondar, NCTM, worked tirelessly with coordinators Carol Bell, composition; Gloria Johnson, NCTM, junior high; Trudy Kincade, NCTM, high school; and Carolyn Adams Carolyn Adams, (born May 6, 1946),[] later known as Mountain Girl and Carolyn Garcia, was a Merry Prankster and the wife of Jerry Garcia. After growing up in Poughkeepsie, New York, Adams met Neal Cassady in 1965; Cassady immediately gave her the name , collegiate artist and chamber music, and Division President-elect Ruth Pitts, NCTM, to organize a competitions weekend that couldn't have been better. Jeongwon Ham, associate professor of piano at OU, presented a recital of works by Haydn, Ravel and Chopin. Attended by workers, competition entrants, their families and area teachers, her recital was a highlight of the weekend. Saturday evening we enjoyed dinner at a Norman restaurant. Hearing our most talented students perform was exciting.
