The 2006 Arkansas State MTA state conference will be held June 2-3 at Arkansas State University Arkansas State University,at Jonesboro; coeducational; chartered 1909; named State Agricultural and Mechanical College, 1925–33. In 1933 the school became Arkansas State College, and in 1967 it achieved university status and adopted its present name. in Jonesboro. Lauren Clark, NCTM, and J.D. Kelly, NCTM, are the local liaisons. Deepest sympathy is expressed to ASMTA President Peggy Lewis for the loss of her husband. We also extend our love and support to our fellow teachers in Louisiana who have suffered great loss in the hurricanes. The 2005 Louisiana MTA conference, which was scheduled for October 27-28 in New Orleans, was cancelled. The 2006 conference is scheduled for October 12-14, at the Louisiana Tech University Louisiana Tech University,at Ruston; coeducational; state supported; chartered 1894, opened 1895 as an industrial institute. It became Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1921 and attained university status in 1970. in Ruston. Oklahoma MTA will hold its 2006 state conference June 2-3 at Cameron University in Lawton. Texas MTA has formed a collegiate committee comprised of various MTNA and TMTA TMTA Transmeta (stock symbol)TMTA Texas Music Teachers AssociationTMTA Tennessee Mathematics Teachers AssociationTMTA Truro Morlaix Twinning Association (UK)chairs. The committee is working to promote all available opportunities for college faculty and students. The 2006 state convention will be June 9-11 at the Dallas Forth Worth Hyatt Regency.
